Your old home and your new home can be only a few blocks apart and still need completely different moving plans. One may have a driveway and a door at street level. The other may have a loading entrance, an elevator reservation and a unit number the map never shows.

For a moving-box rental, write down two separate destinations: where the empty bins will arrive and where they will be collected after you unpack. Check each one on its own, even when both sit in the same neighborhood.

Put the full address on each line

Start with the street address, city, ZIP code and unit or suite information. Then label the purpose: delivery or pickup. A pair of unlabeled addresses is easy to reverse when several people are helping with a move.

If an entrance uses a different street from the mailing address, make a note of that distinction. Do the same for buildings with similar names or several numbered entrances. Ask the property manager for the official delivery instructions rather than relying on a pin that lands somewhere near the property.

Keep private access codes out of public listings and shared neighborhood posts. Use the agreed private channel for information the delivery or pickup contact needs.

Check service for the move you are making

HiveBoxx's nationwide service-area directory is a place to begin. A city listing does not confirm that both of your specific addresses, requested dates and access arrangements are available.

Ask for each leg to be checked. If one home is inside a familiar service area and the other is farther away, explain the whole move from the beginning. Do not assume that a delivery confirmation settles the later pickup, or that the same details apply to both.

For your own records, write down what has been confirmed and what remains a question. A simple pair of notes can prevent a hopeful plan from being mistaken for a finished arrangement.

Walk the route at both properties

Stand where a vehicle may be allowed to stop and consider the path to the agreed handoff point. Look for gates, steps, narrow turns, uneven surfaces and entrances that lock automatically. Ask about current building requirements for loading areas, elevators and shared corridors.

You do not need to solve a provider's routing decisions yourself. You do need to share conditions that may affect access. A useful description is specific: which entrance, which floor and which building contact can answer a question.

Do not promise access you cannot authorize. If a property manager needs to approve an arrangement, wait for that approval and then confirm that it works for the rental handoff as well.

Check the person as well as the place

The person who can meet a delivery at the old home may be unavailable for pickup at the new one. Ask who needs to be present, what that person needs to know and whether any alternative arrangement requires advance approval.

Give each helper only the information needed for their part. The pickup contact should know where the empty bins are, which equipment belongs to the rental and how to reach you if a question comes up. They should also have the current arrangement rather than an early version of the move plan.

Recheck after an address changes

A change of unit, temporary stay or delayed key handover can affect more than the map. It may change who has access, where the bins will be empty and which date is realistic.

If plans shift, tell HiveBoxx exactly which leg has changed. Ask for the new address, date, access arrangements and any quote implications to be reviewed together. Keep the previous confirmed arrangement separate from the requested replacement until the change is confirmed.

Your two-address check

Before your move, make sure you can answer these questions for both delivery and pickup:

  • What is the full address and correct entrance?
  • Has service for this address and date been confirmed?
  • What building or access arrangements are required?
  • Where is the agreed handoff point?
  • Who will be the contact, and do they have the current details?
  • Is anything still waiting for approval?

Use Ready for delivery. Ready for pickup. to keep the two handoffs separate. You can bring the same notes to HiveBoxx when confirming the move. Two complete sets of details give everyone a clearer place to start.

Confirm current provider and local requirements for your own move.
